Jordan Proffer is a Los Angeles-based drummer and composer and a proud University of North Texas One O’ Clock Lab Band alumni. “Known for his dynamic touch and broad musical range, Jordan has built a diverse career performing jazz, fusion, R&B, salsa, and gospel-influenced music with both his own groups and as a sideman.” Jordan has performed/recorded with notable artists such as Shaun Martin and Jay Jennings of Snarky Puppy, Sam Barsh, Thomas Adam Johnson or “TAJ”(bassist for Fred Hammond), Lizzie Morgan, Roy Cotton, Nick Finzer, and Scott Tixier.
In 2026, Jordan was chosen as one of 5 drummers to compete in the National Black Musicians Coalition Drum Crown Competition, spearheaded by Robert “Sput” Searight(Snarky Puppy, Toto, Ghost Note). He has toured with Nick Finzer and German-based guitarist Peter Autschbach. During his time at the University of North Texas, Jordan deeply studied the jazz tradition with Quincy Davis, as well as Brazilian and Afro-Cuban drumming with Jose Aponte, and Indian drumming with Poovalur Sriji.
Although music may be his job, Jordan plays out of his love for it and to give back the gift God gave him. He believes in playing music to unite people from all around the world and to inspire others to create. His first single, Keep Pushing(featuring Shaun Martin of Snarky Puppy), illustrates his love for his first instruments, piano and guitar. After serving as a guitarist at The Hills Church in Texas for 6 years, he served as the primary drummer for 8 years. Jordan leads his own jazz fusion group, The Proffs, who had a weekly residency at the Free Man Cajun Cafe in 2023.
Since moving to Los Angeles, Jordan has been on the worship team at Oasis Church in Koreatown as well as Progressive Community Church in Compton.
As an avid composer, Jordan has written string arrangements for various artists and churches. Audio examples of many different styles can be found on the home page. For his own group, he primarily composes jazz, R&B, and gospel influenced music.
